Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.
Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
Grab your current read and open to a random page:
* Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
This week my teaser is from pg 40 of THE BOY WHO FELL TO EARTH by Kathy Lette.
Background: Lucy is a single mum bringing up Merlin alone his father left them when they found out that Merlin was autistic. The blurb on the book says that it is “…Funny yet heartbreaking, witty and wise…” and that describes it perfectly. Eleven-year-old Merlin has just come home from mainstream school and has been beaten up by some boys in the park…
“…The mother of a special needs child has to be his legal advocate, fighting his educational corner; full-time scientist, challenging doctors and questioning medications; executive officer, making every decision on his behalf; and, also, full-time bodyguard and bouncer…”
