Welcome to my November reading wrap-up:
Total Books Read this month was: 10
Of these: 1 was a Library Book, 6 were E-books and 3 were from my physical TBR pile
Then: I discovered 6 ‘new for me’ authors (i.e. the first time I have read their work).
And: 4 of the books read were written by Australian authors.
Best Book of the month:
I only had one ‘A’ read this month so it automatically becomes my best book of the month – and a fantastically good read it was too! THE LAST GIRL by Michael Adams is the first book in a trilogy and I am hanging out for the next one.
Least Favourite Book(s):
As usual I must explain that I say ‘least favourite’ because my lowest ‘score’ still means it is very readable, but for one reason or another I found it a bit of struggle to stay focused and finish. The Yellow Eyes of Crocodiles by Katherine Pancol was a bit of a disappointment because I expected so much more than I got – it has rave reviews elsewhere in the world but it just didn’t grab me. So this would be my least favourite this month – having said that a friend of mine is now reading my copy and she is absolutely loving it!
As usual I read a wide range of genre this month, I find I am very unlikely to suffer reader’s block if I don’t become one-eyed about any particular genre. Genres read this month were General Fiction, Science Fiction, Chick lit, Romance, Paranormal, Historical and Mystery; then some were a blend of more than one genre.
My Australian authors this month were 3 new-for-me authors Lea Darragh, Lena Dowling, Michael Adams as well as long-time favourite Aussie writer, Brian Kavanagh. Just to clarify an Australian author is defined by me as either an Australian born author no matter where they live and write in the world now, or an author who currently lives and writes in Australia even though they may have been born elsewhere.
Finally, the 6 ‘new-for-me’ authors this month were my Aussie authors Lea Darragh, Lena Dowling and Michael Adams along with Rick Revelle, Katherine Pancol and Kay Bratt. I would gladly read any of these authors again.
So without further delay – here is the list of books that I read during November:
A = Excellent Stuff – a real page turner and hard to put down
The Last Girl by Michael Adams – Science Fiction
B = Really Good Read
A Wicked Design by Brian Kavanagh – Mystery
Blameless by Gail Carriger – Paranormal
K Is for Killer by Sue Grafton – Mystery
Chasing China by Kay Bratt – General Fiction
C = Above Average – very readable and enjoyable
Almost Mine by Lea Darragh – Romance
Bellman and Black by Diane Setterfield – Paranormal
His Convict Wife by Lena Dowling – Romance
D = Average – it was OK, a bit of a struggle to finish
I Am Algonquin by Rick Revelle – Historical
The Yellow Eyes of Crocodiles by Katherine Pancol – Chick Lit
So onward to December – Whoo Hoo! I wonder what book goodies will I discover this month?
