Welcome to my June reading wrap-up:
Total Books Read this month: 18
Of these:
3 were Library Books, 9 were E-books and 6 were from my physical TBR pile
Then:
I read 8 authors for the first time.
And:
3 of the books I read were written by Australian authors
Best Book and highly recommended of the month:
I was lucky enough to read five wonderful books this month ranging from a light and fluffy mystery to a gripping contemporary story of a young girl in Africa overcoming adversity. I recommend each and every one of them but my best book for June has to be THE SUN WILL SHINE SOON by Sally Sadie Singhateh.
Least Favourite Book(s):
As usual I must explain that I say ‘least favourite’ because my lowest ‘score’ is still means it is very readable, but I found it a bit of struggle to stay focused and finish. Only one fitted this description – THE SUNDAY PHILOSOPHY CLUB by Alexander McCall Smith. I loved his ‘Number One Detective Agency’ series but just couldn’t warm to this one.
General Summary: Sadly I had the vacation from hell this month and am still trying to recover from it – unfortunately Mother Nature is unpredictable and it is no-ones fault that Central Europe suffered from record floods and we landed in the middle of it! Still it left me with plenty of time for reading, and a complete lack of interest in anything other than that – so there are few reviews this month for any of the books I read – I will slowly catch up with them and post them during July. Most of my reads were designed to be light and fluffy and it was just as well because that suited my mood. Once we got safely home I was able to settle and read a few meatier books.
My Australian authors this month were: Jane Tara and Jessica White; they were both new for me authors as well. I define an Australian author as either an Australian born author no matter where they live and write in the world now, or an author who currently lives and writes in Australia even though they may have been born elsewhere.
Finally, the 9 new for me authors this month were: Jane Tara, Jessica White, Sadie Singhateh, W Somerset Maugham, Lisa Windgate, Joan Holub, Cathy Woodman, Beverly Long and Lisa Childs. I would happily read more work from all of them.
So without further ado – here is the actual list of books that I read during June:
