Title: Merry’s Christmas: a love story
Author: Susan Rohrer
The Blurb: Desperate to make ends meet, winsome diner waitress Merry Hopper takes a temp job as a Christmas coordinator to a handsome widower, promising to bring Christmas back for his three kids. As the "haves" collide with the "have nots" of this world, Merry finds herself head over heels for the family she’s never had, most of all her new banker boss, not realizing he’s on the way toward a Christmas engagement to his employer’s beautiful daughter.
My Thoughts: MERRY’S CHRISTMAS was picked for my annual December predictable schmaltzy Christmas romance binge. But as well as the feel good boy meets girl, hurdles met and beaten, happily ever after story there is a story that reminds us of the true meaning of Christmas. The joy of giving, putting others first, faith, unselfishness and sacrifice. Merry is down but not out and her faith has not faltered, she prayers and asks for the rent money and she gets a temporary job that more than covers the rent. As she plans the Christmas celebration for the Bell family she enables joy and happiness to replace the hurt that they have all been holding on to. Everyone learns the true meaning of giving is better than receiving, and to look after the needy. A feel good story that looked at one point that there was not going to be the happy ending that this reader wanted, but Christmas romance wouldn’t be a romance without a happy ending, and the twist untwisted and I was more than happy.
Rating: B – A really, really good read.
