Title: Modern Witch
Author Debora Geary
The Blurb: Can you live 28 years without discovering you’re a witch? Lauren is downtown Chicago’s youngest elite realtor. She’s also a witch. She must be – the fetching spell for Witches’ Chat isn’t supposed to make mistakes. So says the woman who coded the spell, at least. The tall, dark, and handsome guy sent to assess her is a witch too (and no, that doesn’t end the way you might think). What he finds in Lauren will change lives, mess with a perfectly good career, and require lots of ice cream therapy.
My Thoughts: I think Debora Geary must have put an enchantment on this book as I feel immediately in love with all the characters. What wonderful well rounded characters they are too – I so want to live in their neighbourhood. Despite the fact that there is no major conflict in this novel, no kick-arse heroes doing battle with super evil villains, I was engrossed from the very first page when a young spunky male witch finds himself surrounded by women’s lingerie and then onwards to meet a tight-knit community of people, both magic and non-magic, who love and support each other. A comfortable and fun community who patiently guide a woman who has unexpectedly discovered that she has magical powers and that there really are witches in the world. As Lauren learns about the new world she is part of, the reader too learns all about it, spells are cast, futures decided and new friendships begin. MODERN WITCH has lots of humour, a little romance and heaps of magical fun and the most delightful little witchling who will make you want to pick him up and shower him with kisses – or send him to the naughty step!! And guess what? There are 3 more in the series sitting in my hot little e-reader and one more due for release in December 2012 that I will be keeping my eye out for!!
Rating: A – Excellent it is a real page turner and hard to put down
