Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.
Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
Grab your current read and open to a random page:
* Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
I am reading THE TRADER’S WIFE by Anna Jacobs. It is a Historical Romance and the first book in the ‘Traders’ series. Starting off in Singapore in the 1860s a Chinese trader, Mr Lee, who has been mentoring the English orphan Isabella in exchange for English lessons, has arranged a marriage between Isabella and an Irish trader Bram. Isabella and Bram are attracted to each other so have agreed to the union. After their wedding they are to go to the SwanRiver colony in Western Australia to set up a trading post there.
Here are my teasers:
Pg 110 – “…She hated cooking, was always burning things, and when she could, she got only bread and ham for tea, with perhaps a piece of fruit…”
Pg 171 – “…But he wondered how long it would take to erase the memory of this day from his mind. Or the horrors his son had faced. And the boy still hadn’t spoken…”
