Welcome to my August wrap-up:
Total Books Read: 13
Library Books: 4
E-books: 4
New for me Authors: 3
Australian Authors: 3
Best Book(s) of the month: All of my ‘A’ reads were top books for me – otherwise I wouldn’t have scored them as such BUT if push comes to shove I would have to say that ‘The Scent of Rain and Lightning’ by Nancy Pickard would be the top book for me, very closely followed by ‘The Soul Saver’ by Dineen Miller.
Least Favourite Book(s): I really didn’t have one this month – I can recommend all the books I read.
I had a week’s recreation leave at the start of the month, so got a chance to sit by an open log fire with a glass of red wine in one hand and a book in the other – bliss!!! August was another good reading month for me and as usual my tastes spread right across a wide spectrum of different genre – Mystery, Paranormal, Young Adult, Christian Fiction, Non-fiction, Fantasy, Science Fiction, general fiction, Historical and Horror.
I read books by three Australian authors – defined as either an Australian born author no matter where they live and write in the world now, or an author who currently lives and writes in Australia even though they may have been born elsewhere. So this month the authors were Ilsa Evans, Liz Byrski and Pippa Dee (aka PD Martin). New authors for me this month were Julian Barnes, Barbra Annino, Ally Condie and Arwa El Masri, and all of them I would read again.
A = Excellent Stuff – a real page turner and hard to put down
The Scent of Rain and Lightning by Nancy Pickard – Mystery
The Soul Saver by Dineen Miller – Christian Fiction/Thriller
Maybe This Time by Jennifer Crusie – Chick Lit/Horror
Grounded Spirits by Pippa Dee – Paranormal/Young Adult
B = Really Good Read
Wicked Business by Janet Evanovich – Paranormal Mystery
Opal Fire by Barbra Annino – Paranormal Mystery
On the Banks of Plum Creek by Laura Ingalls Wilder – Historical/Young Adult
Last Chance Café by Liz Byrski – Women’s Fiction
The Sense of an Ending by Julian Barnes – General Fiction
An Ice Cold Grave by Charlaine Harris – Paranormal Mystery
C = Above Average – very readable and enjoyable
Spin cycle by Ilsa Evans – Chick Lit
Matched by Ally Condie – Science Fiction /Young Adult
Tea with Arwa by Arwa El Masri – Non-Fiction
D = Average – it was OK, a bit of a struggle to finish
No ‘D’ reads this month at all
So onward to September – Whoo Hoo!! What goodies will I discover this month?
That’s wonderful that you read so many good books. I hate it when I’ve got several D reads in a month. I hope your September is just as great!
Thank you Jae. Hope you get a good September too
What a great month of reading! And no D books, that’s fab
