Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.
Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
Grab your current read and open to a random page:
* Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
This week I am giving a teaser each from two different books:
The first teaser is from pg 189 of THE RADLEYS by Matt Haig (Horror)
Background: Peter and Helen Radley and their two teenage children appear to be a typical modern family living in a staid and quiet suburban English town. But appearances can be deceiving, for the Radleys are not a typical family at all; they are all vampires. Peter and Helen have been abstaining from a life of chasing blood for seventeen years in order to give their children a chance at living normal lives and have not told their children of their ancestry. Now it is all starting to come apart at the seams! Peter and Helen are having an argument about the situation:
“… So she just lies there, cross with herself as much as Peter, as he carries on tipping table salt into the open wound that is their marriage …”
The second teaser is from pg 1 of ASSAULT AND PEPPER by Tamar Myers (Cozy Mystery) it is actually the opening line – but I think it is very good.
Background: The congregation of the Beechy Grove Mennonite Church have gathered for the annual chili cook-off but someone has put peanut butter in their chili dish offering and it kills the Reverend – who would want to kill him and why?
“… ‘Bless this food to the nourishment of our bodies,’ Reverend Schrock said, seconds before toppling, face forward, into a pot of Chili …”
Two interesting teasers. Am not familiar with either book, though I think I am drawn more to the first than the second. My teaser
